His role in the 1992 film Scent of a Woman won Al Pacino the only Oscar of his career, for Best Actor.
And would you believe in all the years since 1992, I had never seen this movie? Not even parts of it.
It wasn't until I saw the title on my oldest son's list of favorites on Myspace that I decided to rent it from Netflix. I trust my son's opinions about films more than I do that Ebert guy.
If you've seen Scent of a Woman, I'd like to hear what you think of the film. And I leave you with this:

This is one of John's FAVORITES! I've only watched it once, but he watces it every time its on!
It was really good the first time, but after that it was OK....Pacino can play the same character only so many times before it wears me out.
I htought it was over-rated; I prefer Al in his earlier films (Godfather) I think this one is a bit cheesy!
I never saw it either.
It was a good movie...
I read the synopses and decided it wouldn’t be my cup of tea… Scarface was pretty good though. Nice bit of work with the chainsaw.
Marchelle, cool.
Steve, maybe the key to my enjoyment is that I haven't seen Pacino in that many movies.
Miss M, I agree it seems a bit cheesy at times, but maybe it's because he's playing a character who is acting...someone who is so bitter and angry that he becomes a charicature of who people think he is. It seems to me that the last scene is where he is truly revealed.
wildstorm, you might try it if you get the chance.
Bobby, yay! A yes vote.
Simon, fair enough. I've never watched Scarface for the same reason!
I've never seen it. You should let me know if it's any good..
Rachel, we watched it Saturday night. I loved it, and I can definitely see why Chase liked it so well.
My favourite scene is when he comes into the school and goes up against the Head Master and the snotty rich kids.
I liked this movie.
