When I say "Where in the world is my son?" I really mean it.

Having a son in transit is almost as bad as having a son in Iraq.

The last message I got from my son the soldier was on April 22nd. He said the Army was "80% sure" he would be flying out of Iraq on May 2nd for his mid-tour leave. If not then, it would be the next day.

So here I am, never far from a telephone, waiting for a call from my world traveler.

Go to the Department of Defense and demand that he be fitted with a collar housing a GPS tracking device.

I hope you hear from him soon.

Kate and Miss M, thanks.

Simon - silly. I'm sure the government has already implanted something under his skin. But only THEY have access to the information.

yacky, the only time I've found the Army to be considerate was when my father passed away. And even then, the Red Cross was involved. So maybe they were shamed into it.

Lerm, actually, I hope he has a long layover in Germany...long enough to enjoy a few beers, at least.
