Back to the Dark Ages!

Astounding, is what it is. Perhaps embarrassing. Certainly a health hazard. But the sight of one little sign this morning caused me to cackle.

Due to the current company trend of cost cutting, my employer is no longer buying bottled water for its employees. Instead, they've installed a few reverse osmosis water dispensers throughout the hangar. And this morning, on my walk to the office, I did a double-take when I saw these words (printed on paper) on the side of one of them:

Please wash hands
before using and do not
tongue ladle!

And a white plastic ladle was lying there in the trough that catches water. It's true. We've gone back in time 200 years.

And I really want to know who's been tonguing the ladle.

I'm wondering exactly what sort of disciplinary action they intend to take against anyone caught tonguing the ladle.

Brilliant - I thought it read 'tongue ladies' at first. We have water coolers at work but you put a cup under the tap; I can't imagine how yours works!

Well what is next as we suffer through these difficult times.

Okay, well, I should have known...but the aircraft mechanics have an even more wicked sense of humor than I do. The ladle and the sign were their idea. Still makes me laugh, though.

And just to update anyone reading these comments - this afternoon I walked by the watering hole and saw that someone had chained down the ladle to keep it from being "stolen."

Now tat is something. Chaining the damn thing so it doesn't "Walk"....

"Watering hole" hahaha!
I hear ladles will fetch a pretty penny these days. No wonder they warned against tonguing and stealing.
